Resonant Woods specializes in acoustic woodworking. We design and manufacture high quality furniture, cabinets, speakers, and acoustic treatments.

Furniture and cabinets are designed with the specific needs of audio and video equipment in the forefront. We are able to deliver a better design due to the background of the owner, BJ Tanner. BJ has more than 20 years in the electronics industry, and is a degreed engineer in both electrical and mechanical disciplines. His background includes:

- Depth sounder and nautical instrumentation design.

- Engineering principal in the conversion of the CD player to what is today known as a CD ROM.

- Engineering principal for all laser storage devices for a major computer manufacturer in the 80's.

- Engineering representative for multiple hard drive manufacturers

After spending significant time in shock and vibration laboratories. He spent time working to keep devices cool in enclosures. Then he insured the integrity of small signals in electrically noisy environments.

What does this have to do with acoustic woodworking? Well, vibration to audio components can cause acoustic distortion. Resonant Woods cabinets are designed to minimize vibration. Heat from the amplifiers and other electrical components can shorten component life and may cause failure. Resonant Woods enclosures are designed to keep cool, usually without need for fans. Small signals, such as those produced by components, can be protected through smart cable management and other techniques. These skills are well beyond most cabinet shops.

Beyond intelligent, robust design, Resonant Woods cabinets are expertly crafted and have a beautiful finish. Materials are hand selected for each job. They are then machined and assembled with attention to detail. As a final touch, the piece is given a superior finish. Resonant Woods routinely uses finishes that are beyond understanding and application capability of even some advanced shops.

Resonant Woods designs to your personal requirement, typically adding details to harmonize with your home and your personal style. Cabinets, furniture, and built-in woodwork is also possible beyond the theater area, extending to all areas of the home.
